Pinboard is a rapidly-growing social network ” good ” that has been around for many years.
Pinterest is very interesting to us because it, like YouTube, plays a mixed role.
Pinterest is a very popular social network. It is becoming a popular search engine and bookmarking site.
This 3 Play offers many opportunities to create content marketers.
Pinterest can bring many benefits to your marketing efforts. These are the lessons I’ve learned while helping clients use Pinterest for SEO and content marketing.
Referral Traffic & Distribution
Pins directly from your website are the best way to use Pinterest.
Sidenote – Pinterest doesn’t follow external links. These links won’t help with Google/Bing search engine optimization.
But it goes beyond that. People use Pinterest to browse their news feeds on Facebook, Twitter, and Google. They do more searching.
Referral traffic can only be achieved if your pins are seen by others This is why you need to optimize both for search and social within Pinterest.
How to Use Pinterest
Both will be beneficial. These are the basics of Pinterest.
- Use a business account for analytics
- Verify your profile and web links
- Use correct formatting to display imagery
- Use detailed descriptions
- The image can be linked to the URL.
- Use catchy, descriptive titles
Optimizing for Social Distribution
You want to make yourself more visible on the Pinterest feeds.
- Creating your boards will allow you to build a following
- Pin lots of other content (ideally it’s popular and interesting stuff).
- Keep boards with a niche-oriented, focused theme
- Comment and pin to be noticed by other pinners
- Share boards with other pinners

Search Discovery Optimization
You want to be ranked when people search for ideas on Pinterest’s search engine. You will, however, want to:
Find out how Pinterest works. travel). You can find them by clicking on site:pinterest.com/topics. In Google, you can explore these with site:pinterest.com/topics. What is the activity of your main topic? Which topics are most common in your topic?
Pinterest uses user boards to generate Topics. You can explore them in a Google search. You can explore these in Google search with site:www.pinterest.com/topics. To find unique topics, add your keywords.
What topics are most popular? Which topics are related?
And last you can search pins from your domain at pinterest.com/source/[yourdomain. com]. Which boards have your content been pinned to?
Create boards for brand terms. How do you rank for smaller brands when people search for them?
Find out more about the competition.
Keyword research can be used to develop a search strategy. Create boards and pins that match the topic and are descriptive and well-titled.
Be sure to include descriptive filenames, ALT tags, and Title tags in your image.
The last bit of Pinterest search is all about driving social factors. Pinterest users are more inclined to click on your site to engage with it than to pins and boards.
After you’ve done all you can for Pinterest Search, you will be able to return to your social strategy to monitor your Analytics and see if there are any changes you should make.
Barnacle SEO in Google/Bing
Barnacles attach themselves to huge ships and travel the world without moving a muscle. This concept is known as “barnacle” SEO.
Barnacle is a term used to describe websites that use large websites to rank search terms they would not otherwise be able.
This is especially prominent in local searches, where businesses use their Yelp profile or Yellow Pages profile for specific search queries. Ecommerce companies frequently use Etsy and Amazon for the same purpose.
Pinterest is a social networking site that emphasizes Google Search traffic, unlike other social networks. Pinterest is also very keyword-focused.
Many people search Google for Pinterest-related search results.
You might find my point of view useful.
Your Pinterest page is more likely to rank in Google than a website optimized for SEO.
This strategy was developed with one of my clients. But, they struggled for brand terms rankings on their well-known website.
Their website had pages that were specifically targeted for specific search terms. We also created Pinterest boards that were targeted to search specific terms.
If you are looking for keywords you can target Google and then check to see whether they are searching for images or pins. You can then use pins from this board to drive search traffic back to your website.
Deeper Keyword Research
Thinking “laterally” and determining user intent are the two biggest challenges in keyword research. What else can they do to think about the problem that they are trying to solve?
What are people looking for in cutting boards?
- Lookout for
- Different types
- The best choice of brands
- How to Purchase It
- How to Use It
- What the hell is this?
- If you can find better alternatives
- Safety considerations
- Photos of music-related cutting boards
- Useful stuff for cutting boards
- Or something completely different?
These tools are Google Suggest and AnswerThePublic. KeywordTool.io.
Now you know how to search for “lateral” terms. You can search for terms that are similar to your original search term but not the same. How do you get to “Butcher’s Block?” “
This is possible by using techniques like hacking Keyword Planner or Wikipedia pages.
Pinterest is a great tool to address these issues for many industries.
Pinterest has a search suggestion function. Type your keyword but don’t hit enter. Take look at the top modifiers.
Type the letter you wish to use, but do not hit the Enter key. Take time to look at the variations.
This is the coolest feature. Simply enter your keyword and search. Pinterest will show you the top topics that are related to it. (Click the image for the full-size version.)
The same strategy can be used by Google. Just add the “Pinterest modifier” to your target keywords and understand the content format.
Google should add a “Pinterest modifier” to your target content idea. It shouldn’t be text.
What about the side keywords? There are a few more options.
You first need to identify the most popular Pinterest boards or topics for your keyword. These are the ones Google loves most. Go to Google and use this query – site:www.pinterest.com “your keyword”
This will show the most relevant Google pages to your query.
Now we need to determine what terms search engines associate this URL with. To do so, use Google Ads Keyword Planner. Drag the Pinterest URL most relevant to your search into “Search for New Keywords”. Click the “Get Ideas” button. See what Google has to offer you.
Subscriber Ahrefs can do a reverse analysis of URLs to find out which keywords they rank for on Google.
These keywords will look different from what you see in AdWords Keyword Planner. You can use the data to supplement your keyword research.
The best-performing content
Pinterest allows users to share the most popular content. It is different than Google’s data which uses links and other signals to approximate “authority, relevancy, and authority”. However, it will show the most popular content overall or based on keywords and dates.
This is a great resource as it allows you to build upon what works. “).
If you have the developer resources, you can use Pinterest API. Search for content by date or topic and then sort it according to the number of pins.
If you are looking for best practices or ideas, BuzzSumo offers a free trial. Both offer monthly options for content development.
Reverse Engineer Links
To be successful in Google/Bing, you will need to have links. Reverse engineering is possible.
Pinterest allows for two methods.
Pull the most popular content from previous sections and extract all links to it. Sort by pins to find the best visual content.
If you have something better or complementary to your product, you can manually promote it via email.
Second, you can take either a relevant Pinterest tag URL or you can just drop pinterest.com/topics* into Ahrefs’ Site Explorer.
Side note: All sites linking to your profile will be displayed if you enter Pinterest.com Ahrefs must be redirected. To specify a Pinterest URL path, you can use the Prefix option.
Sort, filter, and sort URLs according to potential. Your website and goals will dictate how you sort.
These are some of our favorite ways to sort, filter, and sort
- Sort domains based on top-level domain, type of domain, and keyword in URL.
- Use URLs with a footprint keyword to sort links. Think “resources”, review”, favorite or idea. To sort priority, use Domain Rank.
- To find active linking websites, you can only sort by New Links.
- You can search for keywords by sorting with anchor
Your imagination is your best tool to learn.
They link from their site to a relevant Pinterest website, so whatever you find will be qualified.
Broken Link Building
Broken Link Building is a slow and steady way to build links to your website. Content can be rebuilt that has been lost.
It can be difficult to find good content after it has been removed or damaged.
Pinterest is full of broken links. This accounts for 50% of all submissions.
Pinterest’s loading process can make it difficult for you to find broken links. Screaming Frog, a normal crawler, is not able to locate those resources.
Ahrefs’ Broken Outbound Links function can be used as the first. After Ahrefs has loaded data, enter the exact URL of the board or the /topics/ prefix. Then click on Broken Outbound Links.
Ahrefs covers only a portion of the information available. Excel makes it difficult to filter out the noise (e.g. 500 errors or irrelevant content). These websites might not be dead, but they could be slow.
It is possible to use a targeted approach. Get the Chrome extension. Our Links. It is a part of the standard SEO toolkit.
Next, modify the tool. Open the options.
Add pinterest.com in the “Exclude Links from These Domains” section. This will stop the tool from crawling your Pinterest pages’ internal links.
Allow the tool to “rel=nofollow” at the bottom of the page. Pinterest tells the bots to not follow the instructions and to check any status links.
Next, search for relevant keywords. Next, navigate to a board or tag to view 50-100 pins.
To let your bot do its magic, click on the Check Our Links button. Dead or broken links will be highlighted in red.
Continue the process with different boards, tags, and tags until you locate the broken piece. Next, move to our broken link-building guide.
Tip: Add “likes” or “repins” to the URL structure for broken pins. Here’s a list of those who liked, repinned, and shared the pin.
Outreach Building Prospects
Please be aware that scraping data is against Pinterest’s (and all others) Terms and Conditions. You are free to do what you want with the information.
A second aside: James Flacks deserves a tip on his Reddit post which made this tactic so simple.
It’s important to identify your “warm prospects” when sharing and promoting your website. With the digital world’s transparency, marketers can make more than an educated guess.
Pinterest can be used as a platform for sharing ideas. Pinners have the opportunity to display their boards, likes, and followers.
You can use Pinterest to reach a large number of people who are interested in your product/content.
Search for a company or prominent pinner to find a relevant pin.
For companies, websites & popular users –
- https://www.pinterest.com/[username]/
- https://www.pinterest.com/pin/[unique pin number]/
Display a list of users who have liked/repinned popular pins, followed the company/user, and so on.
- https://www.pinterest.com/source/blacksheepwools.com
- https://www.pinterest.com/pin/[unique pin number]/likes/
- https://www.pinterest.com/pin/[unique pin number]/repins/
Keyword search is a great way to find popular users.
To view a list of board followers, click on “followers”.
No matter which route you take, you will see lists of people who have expressed an interest in a particular topic. We must quickly get their data.
Get another Chrome extension Scraper for Chrome.
Choose the most important one. Scroll to the bottom to see all. Click the link of an individual to Scrape Similar.
//div[@class=Grid Module’]/div/div sets the Xpath and.//a/@href the column setting.
For scraping pin sharers, use //div/div/div/div[4]/div/a for the Xpath and columns set as @href
Export the list to a spreadsheet program. Clean up the list so that you have the user’s profile URL (https://www.pinterest.com/[username].
We will take the list from Pinterest and put it into a crawler program like Screaming Frog to extract this data.
Switch from Screaming Frog to List Mode. Create a user list. Get all outlines.
Be sure to update your spreadsheet with information such as Twitter, Facebook, and other social profiles.
Use that data to your advantage. It’s enough data to make it seem creepy.
Use the data to learn more about your followers. Follow them on Twitter to see what they are sharing and how you can help.
Retargeting Audiences & Amplification
But, scraped data could be used in an obnoxious and socially acceptable manner to help content marketing.
Facebook’s custom audience lets you upload a list of Facebook users against whom to run ads.
Upload your Facebook usernames and Twitter handles, then run targeted ads for promotion and amplifying the content.
This area is very grey for Facebook and Twitter’s programs, particularly if you are only scraping Pinterest users.
